Chapter 2: The Preparation

6:30 in the morning, Kyle wakes up fast and prepares for school. He packs up his stuff and runs down the stairs. He is about to go out from the house until his dad calls him. "Don't forget to have your breakfast!" Kyle takes a few sandwiches and stores in his lunch box. "All finished!" says Kyle. He then slams the door shut and runs out to fetch his bike. He paddles so fast until he almost have an accident by a car. "Sorry!" shouted Kyle.

     He sees the Research field and parked his bike next to a truck. He runs down into the field and asks someone. "Excuse me, what are you looking for here? What research are you doing", he asks politely. "Back off, kid. Don't you have somewhere else to go, like SCHOOL!" yells a worker. Kyle thumps his feet and mumbles back to school. He then runs to the library and goes for a talk with the librarian.

     "Excuse me, do you know the author of this book?", asks Kyle. "You, do you believe in that book?" asks the librarian before answering Kyle's question. "I believe so", nodded Kyle. "Are you the kid who will go on a trip to the ruins?", the librarian asks. "Yes, how did you know?", Kyle wonders. "Come with me, I'll explain along the way. This'll be a long walk around the school". The librarian walks slowly behind the school. "My name is Mrs Buckley", the librarian starts his conversation. "Pleased to meat you Mrs Buckley", greets Kyle. After a few minutes of getting to know each other, Mrs Buckley leads Kyle behind the sports cabin. Behind, there is a door heading under the ground. More like a basement. "Remember to keep this as your secret", whispers Mrs Buckley. She takes out her keys from her pocket and chooses the odd key, shaped of a sphere with many holes. She pushes the key into the hole and twists clockwise and gives a pull. Then she twists the opposite and finally the door is open. "That's a weird way to open a door", mumbles Kyle. Mrs Buckley opens the door slowly. It is very dark inside. Kyle wonders in first while she takes out a torchlight.

     Mrs Buckley flashes her torchlight and points to the center of the basement. Kyle sees the light heading towards a chest. The chest is quite big, fit for Kyle's bike. "Hold this for me please", offers Mrs Buckley to Kyle. Kyle receives the torchlight from her while she searches for another key for the chest. "I didn't know there was a hidden basement here. Why would anyone want it as a secret?", he asks to Mrs Buckley. "This place was suppose to be tomb. See those boxes there, those are coffins. they belong to the guardians of this place. I am one of them. I am told to protect this chest until I find someone worthy enough to control its power. Ah, here it is!", explained Mrs Buckley as she founds the key. She opens the chest and takes out a folder. In the folder is a paper, rolled and ribboned with paper. She gives it to Kyle. "This is a map to the lost pearls I know you've been reading in that book you've borrowed. Find the pearl and help the situation. There will be another guardian waiting for you. Wear this. It will help the guardian to recognize you with the map", says Mrs Buckley as he hands a necklace shaped of a dragon on a star from her neck. "Thank you, but won't you be needing this?" asks Kyle. "Oh no, I've been a guardian for a very long time. It is now your turn to be one. and maybe you could not just be a guardian, but an owner of the pearl. Good luck!", says Mrs Buckley. They went out from the basement and locks the door. Now, hurry back to your class and make sure you prepare everything before you go on the trip", tells Mrs Buckley. "Bye, Mrs Buckley", says Kyle as he runs back to class.
